You’re about to start drinking and using clean water, free from 98% of all contaminants.
If you have recently purchased and installed a reverse osmosis system (ROS), congratulations! Now that Godwin Water Treatment has installed your new system, you might be wondering… what do I do now? Don’t worry! We know a thing or two and are ready to share our best tips for maintenance of your new ROS.
How often should I change my reverse osmosis filter?
Did you know that most Reverse Osmosis Systems have three filters? This includes a pre-sediment filter that removes particles like dust, dirt, or rust, a pre-carbon filter that removes chlorine, pesticides, or other chemicals that could hurt you, and a post-carbon filter that polishes off your water before you drink or use it. In order to keep your new system happy and healthy, these filters need to be changed at least once, if not twice, a year depending on its location of your home and the water that your system is filtering.
How often should I change the membrane on my reverse osmosis filter?
Your reverse osmosis system also has a membrane that removes 98% of total dissolved solids. Unlike the filters, the membrane on your system only needs to be changed every 3 to 5 years. It can be hard to know as a home-owner if it’s the right time to change the membrane on your system. But don’t worry; Godwin’s got you covered! Our water treatment specialists test your water for the total amount of dissolved solids coming through your system versus the total amount of dissolved solids coming through your tap water normally and determine the right time to put in a new membrane.
